Painscapes is both a methodology and a landscape of inquiry. It emerged through the FEEL HER PAIN project as a series of embodied investigations into chronic pain, endometriosis, and lived experience. Through improvisation, choreography, film, image-making, and collaborative practice, Painscapes expanded beyond the expression of pain to become a way of generating knowledge through the body itself. Rather than seeking to illustrate pain, these evolving movement inquiries attend to sensation, memory, absence, vulnerability, and transformation. The works presented here document the unfolding of this creative research process and the embodied investigations that ultimately contributed to the development of netherness and an interdisciplinary practice-as-research methodology.
